Last weekend, an arts and cultural festival “The Sun over the Placid World” was successfully organized at the Ikh Gazriin Chuluu Nature Reserve in Gurvansaikhan soum, Dundgobi aimag. The Ikh Gazriin Chuluu is a large mountain of granite rock in the Gobi Desert famous for its remarkable shapes and figures. The festival involved three thousand traditional long song singers and horse head fiddle (musical instrument Morin Khuur) players.
The festival is named after a famous Mongolian long song by prominent long song singer Hero of Labor, State Prize laureate, People’s Actor N.Norovbanzad, a native of Dundgobi aimag of Mongolia. She has performed this song on several renowned world stages.
Some famous Mongolian long songs singers and horse head fiddle players took part in the event apart from artists from local theatres of Dundgobi aimag. Alongside the performances of long song and horse head fiddle music, a folk art concert, poetry event and performance of the artists from Dundgobi aimag were held. Prime Minister of Mongolia U.Khurelsukh conveyed a message to the artists and the audience of the festival.
