Itinerary

Day 1, 13, 14 ULAANBAATAR

 

Upon arrival at Chinggis Khan International Airport in Mongolia, you will meetwith our driver. Transfer to your hotel, settling in.After freshening up, at 12 pm we start our first day around Ulaanbaatar, we will take you in the restaurant of your choice and then we will visit Gandan Monastery, the largest and one of the most important monastery of Mongolia. From here we will go to the National History Museum which tells the rich history of Mongolia. The heart of Ulaanbaatar, Sukhbaatar Square. Here we will see the Parliament House, National Opera and City Hall. In the evening, you will attend a performance of traditional dancing and khoomii (Mongolian throat singing). Overnight in hotel.

Day 2 IH GAZRIIN CHULUU

 

At 9am, your tour guide and driver will pick you up and our trip will start to Baga Gazriin Chuluu N.P. This is rocky Small Mountain and beautiful landscape which consists of many shaped specific granite rocks and mineral springs in the bottom land. We will reach Ger camp near Baga Gazriin Chuluu around Lunch time. After having lunch, we will explore surrounding area. Overnight in a ger camp. (B, L, D)

Day 3 YOLYN AM

 

Travel to Tsagaan Suvarga (White Stupa). The scarp of Tsagaan Suvarga is located in Ulziit sum. It is interesting to see the sheer slope, facing east, which from a distance seems to be the ruins of the ancient city. The cliff is 30 meters high and 100 meters wide. Over thousands of years the wind has created this amazing structure. Travel to Gobi Gurvan Saikhan National Park where we will enjoy remarkable Yolyn Am an exotic setting of green meadows and dense glaciers situated deep within the arid Gobi.Overnight in a nomadic family ger (B, L, D)

 

 

Day 4, 5 KHONGORYN ELS SAND DUNES

 

Travel to Khongoryn Els Sand Dunes, Mongolia’s largest sand dunes- reaching a height of 800 meters in some highest areas and known as the “Singing Dunes”. Evening visit to a camel-breeder’s family with a chance to go camel riding. Day 4-Overnight in a ger camp. Day 5-Overnight in a nomadic family ger. (B, L, D)

Day 6 ONGI MONASTERY

 

Travel to Ongi Monastery which was built in the 18th century, the former main religious center of South Mongolia. Hiking in nearby Gobi mountain and along the area where the ruins are situated. Overnight in a ger camp. (B, L, D

Day 7, 8 KHUISIIN NAIMAN NUUR

 

Today the pack yaks are loaded by our hosts and native nomads of the area who will lead us on this Naiman Nuur trekking journey. We start our trek across the hills and ridges into the Naiman Nuur area. Our support vehicle will not be able to follow. At higher altitude’s we catch spectacular, panoramic views over this wild terrain. We set up our tented camp at Huis Lake for two nights.Overnight in a nomadic family ger (B, L, D)

Day 9 ORKHON WATERFALL

 

Today is the day to explore the picturesque Orkhon Waterfall which is situated on the Orkhon River, Mongolia’s longest river at 1,120 km. The local name of the waterfall is Ulaan Tsutgalan and the height is 24 m. The waterfall was formed by a unique combination of volcanic eruptions and earthquakes about 20,000 years ago. The water level of the waterfall fluctuates with the rainfall. Overnight in a nomadic family ger (B, L, D)

Day 10 TUVKHUN MONASTERY

 

We continue our journey to Tuvkhun Monastery, located at the peak of a remote, wooded mountain, built by Undur Gegeen Zanabazar in 1651 for his meditation. About 4 km hike up the mountain path leads to the Tuvkhun Monastery. Here we enjoy the tranquility and beauty of the scenery and visit the caves located around the monastery. Overnight in a ger camp (B, L, D)

Day 11 RUINS OF 12TH CENTURY CAPITAL CITY KHARKHORIN

 

Travel to Kharkhorin, the former capital city of world’s greatest land empire, established by Chinggis Khan. Here we will tour the oldest Buddhist monastery, Erdenezuu, a religious complex spanning over 400 sq. meters surrounded by 108 stupas. It was first built on the ruins of Khin 1586 by Abtai Sain Khan. The site has some of the best works of religious art and architecture in Mongolia. Visit Kharkhorin Museum. Overnight in a nomadic family ger (B, L, D)

 

Day 12. Hustai National Park

 

Pick up from your hotel at 9am. 2.5 hours’ drive to Hustai National Park – do excursion to see the Przewalski’s wild horses in their natural habitat.Visit nomad family – experience nomadic life and enjoy tasting dairy products. Enjoy hiking, take photos and watching wild flowers,

Overnight in a nomadic family ger (B, L, D)

Day 12 TERELJ NATIONAL PARK

 

Drive to Terelj National Park, one of the most visited sites near Ulaanbaatar. Terelj is set in the picturesque valley of granite mountains and the beautiful Terelj River. Transfer to a tourist ger camp. We will then visit the Turtle Rock and the Temple of Meditation. Hike around. Overnight in a ger camp. (B, L, D)
